If you are at all like me, you are on the fence about starting a blog. I thought about it for a long time and finally I just did it. While I’m not a 6 figure blogger or even a 5 or 4 figure blogger, I really enjoy it. Don’t get me wrong, I want to earn money, I just have not gotten that part down yet. I’m still learning, taking courses and reading e-books.
I have not been able to work on my blog in over a month because of Hurricane Harvey. He just came through and screwed everything up for me (and a million other folks). I’ll spare you the details, but basically I had to find another place to live, pack all my junk up (and there was a lot), and move. Then I had to unpack which is still not complete. I just feel like I can’t do anything on my blog until everything is perfect in my new place. I finally realized that will never happen and I’m making myself write this post. I just haven’t found my mojo in my new place yet. Hopefully, that will come soon.
Winter Must Haves, You Need One
So, first of all if you are wanting to start a blog or really any website, you will need a hosting website. I suggest using Bluehost. Bluehost is very user friendly, reliable, safe and secure. The best part is you get a free domain name for $3.95 per month. So, click below and let your dreams begin.
Oh, and another great thing about Bluehost is, there is a 30 day money back guarantee and 24/7 support. So, what are you waiting for? Get started by clicking the link above.
Now, you need a domain name. You can search on Bluehost to see if the domain name you want is available. You can name your site/blog anything you want as long as it is available. Super cool, right? I think so, and for only $3.95 per month!
After you obtain your domain name, I would download WordPress. WordPress is the software that runs your blog/site. It is also very user friendly and one of the best. Oh, and of course I use it and love it. You can install WordPress with just one click and in about a minute, you will be ready to rock and roll. Click on “View Credentials” and obtain your login information. Be sure to write down your admin URL, user name and password somewhere safe so you don’t forget it.
Now you are ready to head over and log in to your admin URL and pick your theme. A theme is for the layout of your site and for the graphics you use to make your site pretty. WordPress has lots and lots of themes you can chose from, but I prefer the themes at Restored 316.. The themes are very feminine, so if you are a guy, these themes may not be for you. I personally use The Darling Theme and I love it. All the Themes at Restored 316 are very reasonably priced and require the Genesis Framework which you can download from the Restored 316 website.
Now, once you chose your theme and download it, you are ready to add your posts, graphics and the “stuff” that will make your site beautiful.
Once you do all the above, you are ready to write your first post. Make it great. Introduce yourself and let the world know who you are and what you are passionate about!
So what are you waiting for? You have nothing to lose. Click the box below and get started today!
***I receive compensation for being a Bluehost Affiliate and a Restored 316 Affiliate when you purchase through my link. But I would never promote anything that I did not use myself and believe in. Everything in this post is through my own experience.***
